A hearty welcome to Visit Mississippi, a sponsor and exhibitor who will be on hand to show and tell you all about Mississippi s show stopping courses throughout the state.
Whether historic courses where legends have played or the greens and fairways where legends are made, Mississippi has more than 140 golf courses designed for every player's dream round.
The Mississippi Gulf Coast is home to one of the oldest golf courses in the United States. Great Southern Golf Club was designed by famed architect Donald Ross and opened in 1908. Golfing legends such as Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Babe Zaharias and Sam Snead, plus President Woodrow Wilson have all played at the gulf-front course.
The name-dropping continues at The Bridges Golf Club in Bay St. Louis, home to an Arnold Palmer Signature golf course, and Grand Bear is located north of Gulfport, designed by Jack Nicklaus. Both are ranked in the Top 10 courses in Mississippi, according to GOLF Magazine and Golfweek. Jerry Pate's coastal design in Mississippi is The Preserve, the second best casino course in the country, according to Golfweek.
Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point combines Scottish Highlands style with a graceful Old South setting. Designed by former U.S. Open champion Jerry Pate and Bob Cupp, Old Waverly hosted the 1999 U.S. Women's Open, and it's currently number 35 on their "100 Greatest Public Courses" in the U.S.
Further north, The Dogwoods Golf Course at Hugh White State Park in Grenada was named the 5th "best new affordable course" in the country by Golf Digest upon opening.
Mississippi also hosts annual stops by both the PGA TOUR and the Champion's Tour, offering duffers an opportunity to witness how the game is supposed to be played.
Nashville Golf Show is excited to welcome PGA Professional Steve Kirkpatrick & Golf Rx as an exhibitor. Steve will be on hand for instruction and will have a stage presence all three days of the show.
Steve Kirkpatrick, owner of Golf Rx in Mt. Juliet, is one of those rare individuals who found his passion in life and is able to make a living pursuing it.
After 30 years in the golf business, Kirkpatrick considers himself very fortunate to still be doing something he loves and making a living at it.
An Owensboro, Kentucky native who has been playing golf since he was 8 years old, Kirkpatrick became a PGA of America professional in 1989.
In 2010, he opened Golf Rx, a one-stop shop for just about everything a golfer needs from books on instruction to club repair to club fitting and everything in between.
"I just saw a need from golfers for a higher level of personal service from an experienced and qualified professional," he said. "This is like a candy store for golfers new and used equipment for sale, books on instruction, and the list goes on and on.
The other is not straying from my three areas of expertise teaching, custom fitting and club repair."
A licensed pilot who has written three golf instruction books, Kirkpatrick derives the most pleasure from helping golfers improve their game and equipment.
